Abbreviations


ch : chain

sl st : slip stitch

sc : single crochet

inc : increase

sc dec of 3 : decrease of 3 stitches at the same time to make it 1

BLO : back loops only

FLO : front loops only

R : round / row

Notes


Every round ends with a sl st in the 1st stitch of the round. Every row ends with a ch1 then turn. I highly recommend using the straight edge technique when working in rows.

Gauge for the chunky yarn (9 mm hook): 10 cm x 10 cm= 8 sc x 9 rows

Gauge for the pink yarn (5 mm hook): 10 cm x 10 cm= 16 sc x 17 rows

And the gauge for the other yarns (4 mm hook): 10 cm x 10 cm= 19 sc x 18 rows

The Camera Body

You need: the chunky yarn and the 9 mm hook.

Chain 11, then starting the 2nd loop from the hook:

Round 1: 9 sc, (4 sc in the next stitch), continue working on the other side of the chain base: 8 sc, (3 sc in the last stitch) (24)

Round 2: (3 sc in the 1st stitch), 8 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 2 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 8 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 2 sc (32)

R3: 1 sc , (3 sc in the next stitch), 10 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 4 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 10 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 3 sc (40)

The base of the camera body currently measures 16 cm in width and 7 cm in length.

R5 to 12: 40 sc (40)

This gives you a height of 10 cm at this stage.

R13: 2 sc, sc dec of 3, 10 sc, sc dec of 3, 4 sc, sc dec of 3, 10 sc, sc dec of 3, 2 sc (32)

R14: 32 sl st by going through the inside of the stitches instead of the outside (see pictures below) (32)

At the end of the round, cut the yarn and make an invisible join for a clean finish. Then weave in all the ends.

Wrap-around band – Crochet Camera Pen Holder

You need: the pink yarn and the 5 mm hook.

Chain 12, then starting the 2nd loop from the hook:

R1 to 85: 11 sc (11)

When finished, cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing. The wrap-around band measures 48 cm by 7.2 cm. Wrap it around the camera body, making sure it’s centered properly. Sew the first and last row of stitches together by working through the front loops only. Then, sew along the top and bottom edges of the band to secure it to the body.

The Camera Lens – Crochet Camera Pen Holder

You need: the cream and pink yarns and the 4 mm hook.

With the cream yarn make a magic circle.

Round 1: 6 sc (6)

Round 2: sc inc x 6 (12)

R3: (1 sc, sc inc) x 6 (18)

R4: (2 sc, sc inc) x 6 (24)

R5: (3 sc, sc inc) x 6 (30)

R6: 30 sc FLO (30)

R7: 30 sc (30)

Change yarn color to pink:

R8: BLO (4 sc, sc inc) x 6 (36)

R9: (5 sc, sc inc) x 6 (42)

R10: 42 sc BLO (42)

Cut the yarn and weave in all ends. Place the lens on the front of the pen holder, ensuring it’s well centered, then sew it in place. Cut rounded shapes from your white felt fabric and glue them inside the lens to create the lens flare.

The Flash Window – Crochet Camera Pen Holder

You need: the yellow yarn and the 4 mm hook.

Chain 4, then starting the 2nd loop from the hook:

Round 1: 2 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), continue working on the other side of the chain base: 1 sc, (2 sc in the last stitch) (8)

Cut the yarn, leave a tail for sewing, then sew it on the top right of the camera.

The Shutter Button

You need: the green yarn and 4 mm hook.

Chain 5, then starting the 2nd loop from the hook:

Round 1: 3 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), continue working on the other side of the chain base: 2 sc, (2 sc in the last stitch) (10)

Round 2: 10 sc BLO (10)

R3: 10 sc (10)

Cut the yarn and weave in the ends. Using the cream yarn, cut a length and sew the button to the upper left corner of the camera. Make sure to sew it in a way that conceals the cream yarn so it doesn’t show on the button.

The Color Strips

Cut strips from the pink, blue, yellow, and green felt, each measuring 0.5 cm by 2 cm. Next, cut a 2 cm by 2 cm square from the white felt. Glue the color strips onto the square in the following order: pink, yellow, green, and blue. Finally, glue the assembled color strips beneath the shutter button.
