Throwing it back to the 90s once again! For my retro crochet collection this time, I wanted to create the iconic pager (the one I always dreamed of owning but never got, sadly!). And what better way to bring it to life than by turning it into a crochet AirPods case pattern for the AirPods Pro? Their case already has the perfect shape to resemble a pager, and it immediately sparked the idea to transform it into a fun, nostalgic crochet cover.
I take great pride in designing patterns that awaken a sweet sense of nostalgia in crocheters: while using soft, colorful pastels to make each piece bright, cheerful, and gentle on the eyes. My aim is to capture the warmth of old memories and blend it with a fresh, inviting style that feels satisfying to create and genuinely pleasant to use.
So, grab your yarn, answer the call of nostalgia, and let’s crochet up this rad little accessory together now.

Notes – Crochet Airpods Cover
The rounds are worked using the amigurumi technique, meaning you won’t join at the end of each round with a slip stitch.

The gauge for the yarn is 5 cm x 5 cm = 11 sc x 14 rows.

Pager Crochet Airpods Case Pattern
Bottom Part Of The Crochet Airpods Case Pattern
We’ll begin with the first row, and then move on to working in rounds for the rest.
Chain 12, then starting the 2nd loop from the hook:
Row 1: 4 sc, ch 3, skip 3 stitches, 4 sc (11)
Round 2: (in the same stitch where we worked our last sc: make 3 sc – mark the first sc as the beginning stitch of the round), so continue working on the other side of the chain foundation this way: 3 sc, (3 sc in the ch3 space), 3 sc, sc inc in the last loop, then sc inc in the first sc of the first row, continue the round working in the stitches from row1: 3 sc, 3 sc in the ch3 space, 4 sc. (26)
The hole we made is for the charger to fit through.

Round 3: sc inc x2, 11 sc, sc inc x2, 11 sc (30)
R4: sc inc, 2 sc, sc inc, 11 sc, sc inc, 2 sc, sc inc, 11 sc (34)
By now, your base should be about 6.2 cm wide.

R5 to 11: 34 sc (34)
After the last round add 5 sc more, cut the yarn and finish the bottom with an invisible join

The Lid Of The Crochet Airpods Cover
We’ll work the lid just like the bottom part, but without the hole.
Chain 12, then starting the 2nd loop from the hook:
Row 1: 11 sc (11)
Round 2: (in the same stitch where we worked our last sc: make 3 sc – mark the first sc as the beginning stitch of the round), so continue working on the other side of the chain foundation this way: 9 sc, sc inc in the last loop, then sc inc in the first sc of the first row, continue the round working in the stitches from row1: 10 sc. (26)
Round 3: sc inc x2, 11 sc, sc inc x2, 11 sc (30)
R4: sc inc, 2 sc, sc inc, 11 sc, sc inc, 2 sc, sc inc, 11 sc (34)

R5 to 7: 34 sc (34)
Row 8: 25 sc, don’t finish the round (the part where we didn’t work in the round will be placed on the front of the airpods case).

Time to sew the lid to the bottom!
Align the bottom edge of the lid with the matching stitches on the base, and sew them together through the outer loops only, joining a total of 15 stitches.

The Screen Frame
Chain 27, then slip stitch in the 1st loop making it a total of 28 stitches. Now starting the very first loop where you made your sl st, work the following round this way:
Round 1: sc inc, 9 sc, sc inc, 3 sc, (1 hdc, 1 dc) in the next stitch, 6 dc, 1 hdc, 3 sc, sc inc, 3 sc. (33)

Cut a piece of clear plastic sheet to fit your frame. Using a text editor or Canva, create a small text illustration of your choice (sized to fit the frame as well). Print it out and carefully cut it to size.
Next, glue the plastic sheet to the frame, then glue the printed paper onto the plastic.
Once everything is dry, sew the frame onto the top of the pager. Make sure to align the bottom edge of the frame with the top edge of the pager’s base, so that the lid can open smoothly without blocking or bending the screen.

The Heart Button
Make a magic circle with your orange yarn.
Round 1: 1 sc, 1 dc, sl st, 1 dc, 2 sc, sl st in the 1st stitch to close the round (5)
Cut the yarn and sew the heart button to the bottom right of the pager.

The Two Other Buttons
Chain 3, starting the 2nd loop from the hook:
Round 1: 1 sc, (3 sc in the last stitch), on the other side of the chain foundation: 1 sc (5)
Cut the yarn and leave a tail for sewing. Make two buttons this way and sew them on the bottom left of the pager crochet airpods pro case.

And voilà your pager crochet airpods pro case is finished! This crochet AirPods pro case pattern is my little love letter to the 90s, and now it’s your turn to bring it to life!
