I made this crochet bag charm pattern because one of my plain tote bags was sitting there looking a little too empty. A normal person would maybe add a pin. I made a whole miniature beach situation.
This little crochet beach bag charm pattern is composed of a crochet beach bag, crochet flip flops and a crochet sunscreen bottle; because if we’re going summer, we might as well commit properly. I wanted it to feel like the kind of tiny handmade detail you clip onto a tote before going out, even if your actual plan is just buying bread and pretending you’re on vacation.
The fun part is that each piece has its own little personality without being complicated for no reason. The mini bag gives it that cute beachy base, the sunscreen bottle adds the “yes, I came prepared” energy, and the sandals are basically a small crochet flip flop pattern inside the whole project.
So if you’re looking for a fun summer crochet keychain pattern or a cute crochet beach keychain to add to your bag, keys, market tote, this one is a sweet little project to make. It’s detailed, summery, and super cute!

Row 1: 2 sc, sc inc, 2 sc, sc inc, 3 sc, sl st (12)
Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Now that both straps are ready, sew the slip stitch sections together to create the little Y shape (see picture 2). Then sew the ends of the strap onto the flip-flop. Repeat the same steps for the second foot, mirroring the placement so you get a proper little pair for your crochet flip flop pattern.

For the hanging loop, take the beige yarn and the 2,5 mm crochet hook, Ch15. Sl st into the top stitch of the right flip flop, ch 1, then sl st into the top stitch of the left flip flop.
Ch 15 again, then sl st into the first chain from your beginning ch15 to close the loop.
To finish, attach this hanging loop to one of the crochet beach bag handles so the flip flops can hang nicely from your crochet beach keychain.

R20: 24 sc (24)
R21: (7 sc, sc inc) x 3 (27)
Lightly stuff the sunscreen bottle with polyester fiberfill, but don’t overdo it. You want it to keep its nice bottle shape, not turn into a tiny beach sausage.
R22: Fold the top opening in half, matching the stitches on both sides. Working through both part stitches, make 13 hdc to close the top of the sunscreen bottle. (13)
Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.

Sew the cap to the bottom of the crochet sunscreen bottle.

Use embroidery floss to add the details to the sunscreen bottle however you like: a little sun, the brand, or whatever makes your mini beach sunscreen look properly vacation-ready.

For the hanging loop: with beige yarn and a 2,5 mm crochet hook, ch 40, then sl st into the first loop of the chain to close it.
Sew the loop to the top left side of the crochet sunscreen bottle, then attach the bottle to the right side of one crochet beach bag handle.
And there you go, the crochet sunscreen bottle joins the tiny beach squad, exactly where it belongs.

And that’s your tiny beach day finished: a little crochet bag charm pattern made of a mini beach bag, flip flops, and a sunscreen bottle!
I love this kind of project because it’s small, but it still has enough details to feel special. The crochet beach bag charm pattern works beautifully on a tote bag, a market bag, keys, or even as a handmade gift for someone who loves cute summer accessories.
The little sandals add a cute mini crochet flip flop pattern to the project, especially if you enjoy making small details that actually have a purpose in the final piece. Once you add the sunscreen bottle and the mini bag, everything comes together into a complete crochet beach keychain that’s ready to clip onto your tote, keys, or summer bag.
