In the tapestry of our daily lives, loneliness can sometimes cast its subtle shadows. In the hustle and bustle, we often find ourselves longing for a companion — a friendly presence to share the journey, to banish the solitude that can quietly seep into our routine. Here comes the Crochet Bear Pencil Case, not just a cute accessory, but your newfound everyday buddy ready to embark on every adventure with you. Say goodbye to the days of fumbling through your bag searching for a pen! Attach the pencil case around the strap of your totebag, and your pens will always be within grasp. This is inspired by a pin , about a cat pencil case, that I came accross while scrolling through Pinterest. Without further due, let’s start to crochet this cutie pie!
Material – Crochet Bear Pencil Case

Cut the yarn after the 2 rows of 2 sc. Join the yarn back to row 26 on the other side of the pencil case, and repeat row 27 to 28 there too.

Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Turn your work vertically, then fold the edges on each side to shape the bear’s ears and feet, following the visual reference in the pictures below.

Sew the 2 sc of row 28 to the corresponding stitches in row 1, on the other side of the pencil case:

Now join the yarn at the top, on the right side. We’re going to close the top and bottom of the pencil case, this will be our wrong side of the case. Join the yarn with a sc in the far right side top as shown below, (please note that you have to go through both side of the top edge to close it):

To complete the closure of the top, follow these steps: after the 1 sc, make 3 sc in the same stitch, which corresponds to the pointed/rounded part (representing the bear’s ears). Then, crochet 9 sc, followed by another 3 sc in the other pointed/rounded part, and finally, finish with 1 sc. After this, cut the yarn and neatly weave in the loose ends to secure the closure.

When you flip the pencil case to its right side, you should notice the distinct and clean shape of the bear’s ears.

Do the same thing to the bottom of the pencil case for the bear’s feet.
Sew the zipper securely within the designated opening.

The Arms
The Right Arm (the one with the hole)
Make a magic circle.
Round 1: 6 sc (6)
Round 2: 6 sc inc (12)
R3: 12 sc (12)

R5: 2 sc, 2 sc in the ch 2 space, 4 sc, 2 sc in the ch 2 space, 2 sc (12)
R6 to 14: 12 sc (12)
Cut the yarn and fasten off. Sew the arm on the right side of the pencil case (the zipper should be in the back side, the empty face is the front).

The Left Arm
Make a magic circle.
Round 1: 6 sc (6)
Round 2: 6 sc inc (12)
R3 to 14: 12 sc (12)
Cut the yarn and fasten off. Sew the arm on the left side of the pencil case. Next, securely sew the button onto the left arm, ensuring it aligns with the hole on the opposite side.

There you have it! Your pencil case is now complete and ready for use. You can make a little nose on the bear face, at the front, with some cotton yarn like I did.

Hey! I’m confused about how the pink yarn comes into the final project. Did you use the pink yarn to make it easier to show stitches?
Hello 😊, absolutely, the pink yarn was specifically used to enhance the clarity of the pattern. Given the fluffy texture of the original yarn, it’s challenging to discern the stitches. The pink yarn was only used to help showcase the pattern and stitches clearly.
Thank you for your quick response! I love your patterns!
You’re welcome, and thank you a lot 🌸🌷🥰
