Welcome to Atelier Delilah! Describing myself is always a bit challenging — I often find myself at a loss for words. Thanks for bearing with my occasional awkwardness, and let’s begin, shall we? Haha

When I first took up crochet in May 2018, little did I know that it would evolve into a passion, becoming a significant part of my life. Initially, it served as a therapeutic escape during a time of deep depression when nothing seemed tangible. My mother, an avid crocheter since her childhood, had persistently suggested I give it a try, recognizing the need for an activity to infuse purpose into my days. After years of resisting her advice, I eventually decided to take a chance. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I dove in, fully prepared to abandon it if it didn’t resonate with me.

I remember the very first thing I crocheted was a heart-shaped applique. A sign, maybe. Because I ended up loving crochet so much, that it gave me a purpose in my life at a time when I just wanted to disappear. It would become my sanctuary, infusing purpose into a time when I felt adrift and despondent. That’s the teary-eyed segment of my story. Feel free to put away your handkerchief now, haha.

I found a new passion in crochet, to the point I wanted to create my own designs and patterns. I wanted to bring something fresh and new to the table in the crochet world. So, I embarked on the journey of creating my own youtube channel: Delilah Crochet. There I share my crochet patterns and video tutorials for free. Why? Because the joy of witnessing others bring my designs to life, sharing their photos with me, provides a much-needed sense of accomplishment and a gratifying feeling of being of some use.

My passion for crochet not only inspired me to explore other hobbies and crafts but also dismantled the mental barriers that once restrained me. The persistent belief, like a haunting melody echoing in the recesses of my mind, that I was incapable of creating something with my hands, that I was devoid of talent, was finally put to rest.

Embroidery captivated me from the very first attempt. The idea of love at first sight became tangible when I stumbled upon a punch needle tutorial on YouTube. Considering my uncle’s background as a tailor, could the sewing gene be running through our family’s blood? Intrigued, I pondered exploring other crafts – macramé, weaving, tatting, and beyond. As you might have guessed, my passion extends beyond needlework to encompass a love for various crafts and hands-on activities. I find the greatest fulfillment in both creating new projects and sharing the process with others.

And that’s why I created this website. Here, I’ll be sharing my expertise, tips, and patterns across various creative domains. Anticipate a wealth of patterns, valuable tips, and abundant resources tailored to fuel your hobbies and crafts!
