Welcome to Atelier Delilah. I always get stressed when I have to talk about me, because I never know what to say. Please bear with my awkwardness, haha.

When I started crochet, in may 2018, I was far to know that I would love it so much to the point I would dedicate a part of my life to it. It started out as a therapeutic hobby for me: I was severely depressed and nothing felt real anymore at this period of my life. My mother who crochet since she was a little girl, would always tell me to try it out, because she knew I needed an activity to make me feel like I was doing something with my life. After years of declining her advice, I decided I had nothing to lose to just try, I would just give it a go then give it up if I didn’t like it.

I remember the very first thing I crocheted was a heart applique. A sign, maybe. Because I ended up loving crochet so much, that it gave me a purpose in my life at a time when I just wanted to disappear. That was the sob part of my story. You can lay down your handkerchief now, haha.

I found a new passion in crochet, to the point I wanted to create my own designs and patterns. I wanted to bring something new to the table in the crochet world. This led me to create my youtube channel: Delilah Crochet. There I share my crochet patterns and video tutorials for free. Why? Because I love to see people making my patterns and sharing their pictures with me, it gave me a sense of accomplishment that I needed and the feeling to be somewhat useful.

I loved crochet so much that it gave me the will to try other hobbies and crafts. The mental barrier, that I used to have before, vanished. This constant thought that would always resonate in the back of my mind like a bittersweet melody: the idea that I would never be able to make something out of my hands, that I was just a talentless soul, to put it clearly.

I fell in love with embroidery at the 1st try. Love at first sight was a concept that I understood when I stumbled upon a punch needle tutorial youtube video. Oh, my uncle used to be a tailor, maybe the sewing gene run through the family’s blood? What if I tried macramé? Could weaving be my cup of tea, too? How about tatting?… You probably guessed by now that I love needlework crafts, but not only that, I love all type of craft and manual activities. I thrive the most when creating new stuffs, but also by sharing how I make them, with others.

That’s why I created this website. To teach and share with you, craft and art lovers, my know how, tips and patterns in various fields. Expect a lot of patterns, tips and resources for your hobbies and crafts on this website!
