Retro Cat Eye Crochet Sunglasses Pattern – Cute Bag Charm Accessory

I don’t know what it is about summer, but suddenly every bag needs a tiny accessory hanging from it. A fruit charm, a flower, a little thing dangling from the strap, doing more preparation for summer than I did when I forgot the sunscreen. So this time, I wanted to make a crochet sunglasses pattern that felt fun, retro, and small enough to finish without turning it into a three week emotional commitment.

Round sunglasses would have been cute. Fine. Safe. But the cat eye shape had that little vintage attitude I wanted, so cat eye crochet sunglasses it was.

They have dark little lenses, a bold pink frame, and that retro crochet sunglasses look that feels perfect for summer bags, beach totes, market days, or just pretending your everyday purse is on vacation too.

The finished piece works beautifully as a crochet bag charm pattern, but you can also turn it into a crochet keychain pattern if your keys need a tiny makeover. It is lightweight, playful, and honestly a very good excuse to use cute yarn colors for no serious reason.

Basically, these little crochet sunglasses are here to do one job: make your bag look cuter.

And they do take the job very seriously.

Join the rims and lens together

Place the black lens between the two pink lens rim pieces, like a sandwich. Make sure the inner opening of the rims is aligned with the last round of the lens.

Start by sewing around the inside edge of the rims, joining them to the last round of the lens. The lens and the rims each have 34 stitches, so they should match up nicely stitch by stitch. Sew all the way around the inner opening, keeping the black lens centered between both pink rim pieces.

Once the inside edge is completed, continue by sewing the outer edges of the two pink rims together. Work around the outside of the frame, joining both rim layers neatly so the lens is enclosed between them.

Fasten off and weave in the ends. Repeat the same steps for the other side of the sunglasses.

For an extra cute detail, use a small piece of white yarn to add a tiny light reflection on each lens.

The Center Bridge

Row 1: (1 hdc, 1sc) in the first stitch, (1 sc, 1 hdc) in the last stitch (4)
Row 2: hdc inc, sc dec, hdc inc (5)

Cut the yarn and fasten off. Make a second piece the same way, then place both pieces on top of each other and sew them together to create a thicker, sturdier center bridge.

And that’s it, your little pair of cat eye crochet sunglasses is ready to be clipped, carried around, and judged by strangers in the best possible way.

It uses a small amount of yarn, does not ask for your entire weekend, and somehow still manages to look like it deserved a full photoshoot. You can keep it as a crochet bag charm, turn it into a crochet keychain, or make a few in different colors.

If you make your own version, I’d love to know what colors you used. Leave a comment below and tell me if you went classic retro, full Barbie vacation, cherry red, pastel, or something completely unhinged but cute.
