Today’s pattern is a little trip back to the colorful, carefree days of the ‘90s! Imagine yourself in those times: the hottest new toy just hit the shelves, and after a little convincing, your mom finally says yes — one quick trip to the mall later, and you’re holding your very own virtual pet! To bring back that nostalgic excitement, I’ve created a cute crochet Tamagotchi amigurumi that you can carry anywhere as a keychain or bag charm. So, grab your yarn, and let’s crochet this super kawaii Tamagotchi together!

Materials

• Pastel colored worsted yarn
• Cream yarn worsted weight
• a 2 mm and 4 mm crochet hooks
• Polyester fiber for stuffing
• DMC threads
• A4 paper
• A printer

• Keyring

Crochet Tamagotchi Amigurumi Pattern

Main Part – Crochet Tamagotchi Amigurumi

You need: main yarn (pink) and the 4 mm crochet hook.

Make a magic circle.

Round 1: 5 sc (5)

Round 2: sc inc x 2, (3 sc in the next stitch), sc inc x 2 (11)

R3: (sc inc, 1 sc) x 5, sc inc (17)

R4: sc inc, 2 sc, sc inc, 4 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 4 sc, sc inc, 2 sc, sc inc (23)

R5: 3 sc, sc inc, 6 sc, sc inc, 1 sc, sc inc, 6 sc, sc inc, 3 sc (27)

R6: 7 sc, sc inc, 3sc , sc inc, 1 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 1 sc, sc inc, 3 sc, sc inc, 7 sc (33)

Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.

Display frame – Crochet Tamagotchi Amigurumi

You need: cream yarn, 4 mm crochet hook

Make a magic circle.

Round 1: 6 sc (6)

Round 2: sc inc x 6 (12)

R3: (1 sc, sc inc) x 6 (18)

R4: (2 sc, sc inc) x 6 (24)

R5: (3 sc, sc inc) x 2, 3 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), (3 sc, sc inc) x 3 (31)

Cut the yarn and leave a tail for sewing.

Sew the two together

Stuff the main body of the Tamagotchi with polyester fiber, then insert the display frame through the hole in the front. Make sure that the section of the display frame with the 3 single crochets in one stitch is positioned at the top. Using a sewing needle, attach the display frame to the Tamagotchi by stitching through the front loops of the display frame while also stitching through the back loops of round 13 of the Tamagotchi’s main body. Weave all ends.

The Buttons – Crochet Tamagotchi Amigurumi

You’ll need DMC thread in your chosen color and a 2 mm crochet hook.

Make a magic circle.

Round 1: 5 sc (5)

Sl st in the 1st sc, then cut the yarn leaving a tail to sew later. Make 3 boutons this way.

Sew them on the bottom of the Tamagotchi.

The Screen – Crochet Tamagotchi Amigurumi

Cut a piece of transparency sheet that’s slightly smaller than the display frame (around 4,2 x 4, 8 cm). I made my own background that you can also use, or you can make one yourself using a canva of 2,9 cm x 3,5 cm. Print it on a regular A4 paper.

For the little pet, you will have to resize it to fit the screen background, then print it on a clear printable sticker paper. You can download the files in my Gumroad page for free here: https://atelierdelilah.gumroad.com/l/eqtqg

Glue the background paper to the display frame. Next, glue the transparency sheet to the frame, applying glue only along the edges. Once you’ve glued the edges of the transparency sheet to the display frame, fold the last round of the Tamagotchi over the transparency sheet and glue the edges down.

Place your pet sticker in the center of the background, on top of the transparency sheet.

The Flowers – Crochet Tamagotchi Amigurumi

You need the embroidery thread (color of your choice) and the 2 mm crochet hook.

Make a magic circle.

Round 1: (Ch2, 1 dc, ch2, sl st in the magic circle) x 4

Cut the yarn and fasten off. Make four flowers this way, then sew them onto the Tamagotchi.

Attach the keyring to the Tamagotchi, and you’re all set!
